My name is Magnus Snorrason and I live in Belmont, Massachusetts, USA.
Photography has been my passion since I was a kid. I have gone through phases of landscape, urban-scape, theatre, portraiture, fashion, artistic nudes; color and b&w; film and digital. My background in science & engineering shows through in my photography: I am attracted to abstract concepts and elegant forms. And I strive for simple solutions involving more forethought and less post-processing.
My current focus is on fine-art nudes, mostly in black & white, and all digital. Why nudes? I am fascinated by the deep biological roots, how we are wired to have a strong emotional response to seeing a nude human body. I am also awed by the fact that this single subject has a 2500 year history. This presents an enticing challenge for me: can I find a new angle, say something that has not already been said in an image by some other artist? Probably not, but what a wonderfully worthy challenge! So here I am, trying to produce something fresh and unexpected, maybe abstract, while still respecting the innate attraction of the nude human body.
